Frequently asked
What is Dailies?
A companion app for the daily web games you already play. It keeps your games in one Today list, opens each one in the Safari player, logs your score when you come back, and shows you your friends' scores without spoilers.
How do I get the app?
Dailies is a free iPhone beta right now. Install TestFlight from the App Store, then open the beta invite on your phone. App Store and Google Play releases are coming.
Do I need an account?
No. Your Today list, streaks and history are stored on your phone and work signed out. Sign in with Apple or Google to follow friends, join groups, react, comment and message.
Why did the game open in Safari or the NYT app?
Dailies never embeds games. Every game plays on its own website in the Safari player on top of the app, and NYT games open in Safari or the NYT Games app so your NYT streaks and subscription keep working. When you come back, Dale asks "How'd it go?"
How do I post a score?
- Finish the game and tap its own Share / Copy button, like you'd paste it in a group chat.
- Come back to Dailies. Dale asks "How'd it go?": tap Paste my score.
- That's it. Dale cheers, and your score appears as a card you can react to, comment on, or send to a friend.
Tapped Later? Dale waits on the Today card. You can also mark a game played without posting a score.
A friend's score is blurred. Why?
Scores for a game you haven't played today stay covered so nothing gets spoiled. Play the game, or tap "Show anyway" if you really want to see it. Past days are always open.
How do I add or reorder my Dailies?
On Today, tap Edit: drag ≡ to reorder, – to remove. Add games from Discover, from the game menu, or with "Add to my Dailies" under a friend's score. Your lineup also shows on your profile as the Dailies count.
How do I find friends?
Share your personal invite link from your profile, search by @username, or use the suggestions on the Social tab's + menu. Make a group and invite people with its invite link or six-character code.
Can I make my profile private?
Yes: Profile → Settings → Edit profile → Private account switch. Then only followers you approve see your plays, your history and your Dailies.
How do notifications work?
They're off until you allow them, and you can pick categories (friends' first play of the day, DMs, group chats, replies, follows, nudges) in Profile → Settings → Notifications, or pause all of them.
Is Dailies free? Are there ads?
The beta is free. There are no ads, no ad or tracking SDKs, and we don't sell data. Ever.
How old do I have to be?
Dailies is for people 13 and older in the United States. We ask your birth year once before you create an account and keep only the fact that you confirmed 13+, never the year.
How do I delete my account?
Profile → Settings (gear) → Delete account, then confirm. It's immediate and permanent. Full details, and what to do if you no longer have the app, are on the delete account page.
What data does Dailies collect?
Only what runs the app, tied to your account and never sold or used for ads. Everything is listed in the privacy policy. You can request a copy of your data by email.
